Minimum Wage

Description: Minimum wages are among the most controversial topics in economic policy. While the federal government establishes the national minimum wage, many state and local entities opt to impose even higher minimum wages in their jurisdictions. Economists are divided on the economic implications of a non-trivial increase in the minimum wage, a reflection of a large body of research that fails to establish a consensus among the experts. This presentation will present what concensus there is in the profession, discuss the differences, and provide policy alternatives.
